Purpose
Statement
The EMS AAS degree provides the community with entry-level EMT-Paramedics
equipped with the knowledge to care for patients in the pre-hospital setting.

Information
To be considered for admission to the Emergency Medical Services Program,
the student is responsible for completing the admission procedure for
Lamar State College-Orange and the emergency medical services admission
requirements. Please contact the Office of Admissions and Records at (409)

After acceptance to the program,
students must provide documentation of health status by a physician or
nurse practitioner on the form provided and a current CPR card at the
health provider level. Students must keep a current CPR card throughout
enrollment in the EMS Program. A student may enter the program as an EMT-Basic,
EMT-Intermediate or an EMT-Paramedic, dependent on current Texas Department
of Health certification or NREMT certification at that level.
