Emergency Medical Services (AAS)

Purpose Statement
The EMS AAS degree provides the community with entry-level EMT-Paramedics equipped with the knowledge to care for patients in the pre-hospital setting.

To be considered for admission to the Emergency Medical Services Program, the student is responsible for completing the admission procedure for Lamar State College-Orange and the emergency medical services admission requirements. Please contact the Office of Admissions and Records at (409) 882-3364 or the Allied Health secretary at (409) 882-3044 if you have questions or need assistance.

After acceptance to the program, students must provide documentation of health status by a physician or nurse practitioner on the form provided and a current CPR card at the health provider level. Students must keep a current CPR card throughout enrollment in the EMS Program. A student may enter the program as an EMT-Basic, EMT-Intermediate or an EMT-Paramedic, dependent on current Texas Department of Health certification or NREMT certification at that level.
