Purpose
Statement
The Emergency Medical Services Program is designed to prepare students
for various levels of pre-hospital healthcare professions in the emergency
medical services industry. The curriculum combines classroom teaching
with supervised internship field experience. Emphasis is placed on patient
assessment and initial treatment for emergency problems of body systems:
obstetrical, pediatric and geriatric and behavioral emergencies: bleeding,
shock, trauma and burns.
Students will be eligible for
EMT-Basic Certification by the Texas Department of Health after successful
completion of EMSP 1501-EMT-Basic and EMSP 2160-Cinical I-Basic (6 credit
hours).

To be considered for admission to the Emergency Medical Services Program,
the student is responsible for submitting ALL of the following to the
Allied Health Division:
