MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGY (AAS)
Associate of Applied Science

Purpose Statement
The Associate of Applied Science Medical Laboratory Technology Program at Lamar State College-Orange is a course of study designed to produce entry-level medical laboratory technicians equipped with the knowledge and skills to work in today's medical laboratory facilities.

Special Admissions
To be considered for admission to the Medical Laboratory Technology Program at
LSC-O, a student must

  • be accepted as a student at Lamar State College-Orange;
  • submit an application to the Medical Laboratory Technology program;
  • submit transcript(s) of all college work completed;
  • submit high school transcript or GED certificate if the student has no previous college hours;
  • submit official scores from the TASP or an alternative state-approved test. Students must pass the TASP or other approved test prior to being accepted to the MLT program; and submit proof of qualifying medical exam and required immunizations during first semester.

    ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS - LAMAR STATE COLLEGE-ORANGE
    Submit to Lamar State College-Orange
  • application for admission to Lamar State College-Orange;
  • an official high-school transcript or GED certification;
  • original transcripts of all college work completed at other colleges or universities;
  • a copy of driver's license; and
  • a copy of your Social Security card
  • must take the TASP test or approved alternative exam or be TASP exempt

Applicants are encouraged to take as many of the general academic courses (non MLAB) as possible listed on the degree plan prior to applying to the Medical Laboratory Technology Program. MLAB students are required to earn a "C" or above in all MLAB and science courses listed on the degree plan.
