Office Receptionist (C)
Certificate

Purpose Statement
This program is designed to prepare individuals to work in office environments as receptionists. Receptionists greet customers and visitors and after determining their needs, refer the callers to the appropriate personnel. They may be in charge of the reception desk, open and sort mail, schedule appointments, prepare travel vouchers, etc. To graduate, students must type 35 net words a minute at least three times on 3-minute timings AND 10-key 160 net strokes a minute at least five times on 5-minute timings.

The student is responsible for completing the admission procedure for Lamar State College-Orange below:

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS - LAMAR STATE COLLEGE-ORANGE
Submit to Lamar State College-Orange

  • application for admission to Lamar State College-Orange;
  • an official high school transcript or GED Certification;
  • original transcripts of all college work completed at other colleges or universities;
  • a copy of driver's license; and
  • a copy of your social security card

Other Information
Students must meet these requirements for graduation with a certificate of completion:

  • satisfy all admission requirements;
  • complete an approved certificate or institutional award plan;
  • have at least a 2.00 grade point average on all courses submitted on the certificate or institutional award plan;
  • attain no lower than a "C" in each and every class in the major field of study; and
  • have at least 60 percent of semester credit hours in residence at Lamar State College-Orange.

NOTE: All technical certificate programs are TASP exempt, except Administrative Assistant, Medical Administrative Assistant, Vocational Nursing, and Emergency Medical Services-Paramedic.
