Students enrolling in college
for the first time who fit one of the following categories may apply for
admission:
- Graduates from an accredited
high school may be admitted.
- Those who have earned a
General Education Diploma (GED) may be admitted.
- Those who are at least 18
years of age and who do not have a high school diploma or GED may be
admitted upon individual approval of the Vice President for Student
Services upon determination of the students' ability to benefit in their
chosen fields of study, after achieving minimum scores on the ASSET
placement test.
- Those who are under 18,
who do not have a diploma or GED and are still in high school, may be
admitted upon the written recommendation of the high school principal
or counselor.
Admission to the institution
does not guarantee admission to a particular degree or certificate program.
Special requirements for various programs of study are described in subsequent
sections of the catalog.
Beginning freshmen must submit a completed "Application for Admission"
form, an official high school transcript or GED Certificate, and appropriate
placement scores.
All beginning students must comply with requirements relating to the Texas
Academic Skills Program (TASP).
